John is wondering if anybody remembers a plane crash near the railway lines at the back of Laurel Road in the late fifties / early sixties? He recalls seeing a light aircraft downed, but wonders if anyone knows the story behind it. E-mail us or leave a comment if you have any information.
If memory serves me Laurel Rd looks over the railway to the factory centre. There was a large scrap yard there & they used to scrap RAF planes. John might have seen one of the planes in the scrap pile. I used to get in and get bits off the planes. This would have been late 60s.
At the rear of Laurel Road was the railway line to Lifford and across from that was the BK Alloys scrap yard which was full of old aeroplanes.
