Kay (now in Australia) is researching her family tree and wonders if anyone has any information about:
– The Leavers of 29 Elm Tree Road, Stirchley
– Elizabeth Morgan of “56 Pershore Road” in 1911
– Any hotels in the area in the early 20th century.

One Response to “Hotels and more”

  • Lynne:

There would have been the Breedon Hotel and the Dogpool Hotel for a start in the area.
In 1912, 1918 and 1919 there is a George Leavers listed at 56 Pershore Road (son of George and Ann of Elm Tree Road)
Service number: 836276, 242 Army Brigade, RFA. The address was also listed under Ten Acres.
In 1922 there was a Harry Burns living with George and Ann at 29 Elm Tree Road, and in 1925 there was also a Walter John French living there, who had an allotment in Fordhouse Lane.
In 1891 the family lived at Back Of Rose Villas, Ivy Road, Kings Norton, Stirchley and by 1901 at least two of the children worked at Cadbury’s.

Marriages Dec 1906: Herbert Leavers married Jane Munslow (King’s N. 6c 849) and moved to Coventry.
Marriages Dec 1911: James Leavers married Violet Newton (King’s N. 6c 825) and moved to Institute Road.
Marriages Sep 1895: George Leavers married Lizzie Marsh (Aston 6d 538) and lived at 56 Pershore Road.

    Hope this helps?
